When we were getting up to leave, I heard a, «Thanks for coming in.» When I looked up, the lady was back to talking to the man at the counter. The burgers are definitely messy, but I wouldn’t say it took away from the experience. The flavors were great! The Gorgonzola wasn’t overpowering and was a pleasant venture from the norm. The burger was definitely hand-forged, which was different and kind of nice. I’d be willing to give the cook another try on those. They were still edible, and I was hungry. They were well seasoned, but didn’t totally cover the fact that they were overcooked. On my plate, there was a generous pile of brown, very oily, shoestring fries.

They were deliciously crispy and full of flavor. I immediately noticed a stack of giant onion rings on the plate across the table from me. We got our food pretty quickly, but there was only one other table of two in the place (by that point, I gathered that the man at the counter was, not a customer, but a friend of the lady who worked there). I would definitely suggest they set the glasses on something that allows airflow underneath, so they completely dry. The glasses were upside-down on food trays, and there was water on them, I assume, from them having been washed. They had music playing at an appropriate volume and a self-serve water container in the corner with glasses. Usually, I leave at least 20%, but in retrospect, I would have left less, considering it’s not full service. While I don’t have an issue with that, having never been there, it was difficult to gauge how much of a tip to leave. After placing our order, we paid immediately, including tip. They have a really good selection of local beers, and they sell growlers in case you want to take some home! I may have missed it, but I did not see a beer menu conspicuously placed. We ordered the Gorgonzola/Avocado burger with shoestring fries and the bacon cheddar with onion rings.

She didn’t look at us to see if we had questions, and when we were ready to order, I looked at her, for what seemed like several seconds, before she acknowledged she was ready to take it. We were right! As we stood staring at the menus, the lady at the front continued talking to the man sitting there.

There were 5 or 6 tables in there, and there were large menus behind the counter, which led us to believe you ordered at the front. We walked in and were greeted-ish by a lady who was talking to another customer sitting at the front counter. We decided to take our chances, as we weren’t exactly sure where The Gourmet Burger Shop’s parking began. Apparently, where we parked belonged to the restaurant next door, and they had a sign (that could not be read easily at night) stating so along with a tow truck company sign. Parking was confusing, as there were no outside lights to see where spaces were. We got there around 7: 45 on a rainy Saturday night, and there were only a couple people there. We decided to try this place on a recommendation from a friend.
